This 1967 Holden HR Special wagon has been through a complete rebuilt into a one off custom Restomod. This car combines the best of both classic styling with modern performance and reliability. The current owner purchased the car from NSW in 2013 and at the time it was running and driving but needed some work. The current owner has built and owned some very high-end show cars and is no stranger to custom cars so it was always going to get redone the way he wanted it.

The bodywork on the car was trusted to OZ Rods in Meadowbrook QLD. The car was stripped back to a bare shell with any necessary repairs and modifications undertaken. From there is was professionally repainted in PPG base coat white with clear over the top. This colour was chosen so if any repairs needed to be undertaken in the future it would be no issues to match the colour. The chrome and trim on the outside of the car was all either refinished or replaced and the car sits down low over a set of 17” Foose Legend wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan tyres.

Inside the car was treated to a full custom retrim in dark blue leather. There are bench seats front and rear with enough seating for six adults. Front and centre there is an aftermarket steering wheel mounted to a chrome tilt column. The dash has been custom fabricated with a lower panel to house the air conditioning controls, touch screen stereo system and the push button selector for the automatic transmission. The dash also has vents custom fabricated into it and custom gauge set including matching clock. The carpets on the floors have all been replaced and there are seat belts for safety. In the back there is a storage compartment built in behind the seat that lifts up on hinges. The cabin is kept comfortable thanks to air conditioning and tunes are provided by a touch screen operated stereo system.

It’s when you pop the bonnet that you realise this is much more than a tidy classic HR Holden wagon.  Sitting in the middle is a carbon fibre look cover that hides a late model, fuel injected, Alloytec Holden 3.6L V6 engine. The engine is stock standard but provides a massive upgrade in performance, economy, driveability and reliability over the original six. The engine is paired to a modern six speed automatic transmission that is operated using a push button gear selector on the dash. Naturally, the cooling system has been upgraded to include a new alloy radiator with electric thermo fan.

The modern upgrades continue as you look underneath the car with a Rod Tech front end that uses fully adjustable coil over suspension with tubular control arms and rack and pinion steering. The rear end has been upgraded to a four link setup again with adjustable coil overs. The brakes have been upgraded to discs on all four corners.

The build of the car was completed in 2015, it was mod plated for QLD and has only travelled 7,840 kms since the build. The car was designed to look old school inside and out but perform and drive more like a modern car. It takes a huge amount of effort to put together a custom restomod to this level and opportunities to buy cars like this don’t come along often. This car is being sold at NO RESERVE and will sell to the high bidder come end of the auction.
