This 1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is a Genuine, matching numbers car. The car has only travelled a documented 21,700 miles from new with 2 owners in the US and one in Australia before the current owner. The car spent 20 years of its life in private, climate-controlled collection, which reflects in the condition of the original paint work and interior.
This Camaro came heavily optioned from the factory, with the Z28 package, including heavy duty suspension, larger radiator, rare N90 wheels and white lettered tyres, AM/FM Stereo with cassette player, rear window defogger, air conditioning, sports mirrors, power brakes, high voltage alternator and tilt steering column. The time capsule condition of this car is highlighted by the factory floor mats that remain as new with the vehicle, working original radio, space saver spare tyre which is still with the vehicle and even the under hood lamp which still works.
Under the bonnet is the original, matching numbers 350ci Chevy V8 which was only available in the z28 package. The engine bay presents just like it did from the factory. The engine is paired to the optional TH350 Automatic transmission.
The vehicle retains its factory time warp appearance but has been constantly maintained to keep it fresh and on the road. Recent work includes new shock absorbers, engine mounts, new brake pads and shoes, and a brand new fuel tank & lines. The original Quadrajet, Rochester carburettor was also rebuilt with new spark plugs, coil and fuel pump. The exhaust system has been redone which has an amazing note and drops out behind the rear wheels. It has had new colour coded seatbelts fitted and has also been fully engineered in Victoria.
The vehicle comes with an extensive documentation file including the original title and build sheet, original owners manual and sales brochure, along with all receipts for work completed. It so has a number of new hard to get spare parts including the original seat belts with the sale. The current owner tells us that the car is a blast to drive and a real head turner on the street and at shows. This example would have to be one of the lowest mileage 1980 Z28’s in existence and a cool snapshot of American muscle car history.
