This 1968 Holden HK Monaro has been through a full rebuild into a super neat GTS tribute with some great upgrades. The rebuild was completed in 2019 and the car has only travelled approximately 1,000 kms since completion.

The body of the car has been professionally repainted in the most popular colour for these cars, Silver Mink. The relevant items have been added to turn the car into a GTS clone with badging, guard flutes, blackouts, wheel arch moulds and signature racing stripe. The chrome and trim on the outside of the car has all been refurbished or replaced. The car sits down nice and low thanks for reset springs and new pedders shocks and the look is completed with a set of Polished Centerline wheels.

Inside the car has been completely refurbished from top to bottom in a factory look using red vinyl. The interior kit was all sourced through Winner Products in South Australia who are the go-to guys for anything Holden interior wise. The centre console has the GTS 327 style tacho and the B&M quick shifter for the automatic could almost be mistaken for factory it has been so well executed. A nice touch is the air conditioning system which has been very well integrated utilising the factory controls and matching trimmed vents neatly mounted under the dash. The steering wheel is a Genuine HK GTS item rather than a cheaper reproduction and the dash has all been calibrated. The whole car has been completely rewired and there are new rubbers fitted everywhere.

Lift the bonnet and you will find a nicely detailed engine bay with the inner guards and fire wall painted body colour. In the centre now lives a warm 350ci V8 making a very healthy 450hp. The engine is paired to a Turbo 700r, four-speed automatic transmission with a 3,500 rpm stall converter. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a 9” diff running 3.55 gears. A set of aftermarket headers let the gasses escape into a custom dual exhaust. Even though the car sits down low, it hasn’t been tubbed at all, the wheel fitment and diff size were just very well calculated. The brakes have also been upgraded to be power assisted with discs up front.

This is an awesome example of a HK Monaro rebuilt in arguably the most popular colour combination of Silver Mink with Red interior. The upgrades to the driveline as well as the extra comfort items, make for a very nice cruiser.
