Back in 1969, 50 years before this car was built, Sandown race track witnessed the introduction of a special Ford Mustang that would soon become an icon of Australian motorsport. Driven by Allan Moffat, the car saw 101 victories from just 151 races, amongst scores of qualifying and lap records. That car became the legendary 1969 Trans-am BOSS 302 Mustang or as it became known, the Coca-Cola Mustang. These cars are a modern interpretation and tribute to that car, limited to just 100 units however rumours are that less than a quarter of these were actually ever produced due to COVID shutdowns. The Tickford Trans Am pack was a $33,000 upgrade on top of the cost of the GT Mustang donor car and received a large number of upgrades both cosmetic and of course, for performance.

This example is actually the very first one to come off the line at Tickford with a certificate of Authentication provided by Tickford to confirm this. The build number of the car is listed as 16 because Tickford allowed owners to choose their build number within the 2-99 range available upon ordering and the purchases weren’t given the option of build number 1 or 100 at that time. The owners of this car also own build number 16 in the Bathurst 77 special Tickford Mustangs so chose that number to match the pair. The car is unmodified from the way it left Tickford and has only travelled 3,141 kms from new. Tickford was strict about the donor cars to perform the conversion, requiring them to be 2019 year model build and factory Race Red. The outside of the car is transformed with a unique livery to emulate the 1969 Trans Am Mustang along with unique badging. The car has a lowered stance and sits over a set of Tickford 8 spoke 20” wheels to emulate the classic Minilite’s the original car wore.

Inside the car received a unique interior trim with red leather seats front and rear featuring black highlights and Tickford embroidered logos. There is a Trans Am leather wrapped steering wheel and retro inspired shift knob. The dash features a numbered build number plate. The normal GT Mustang creature comforts exist with digital dash display, dual zone air conditioning, power windows, power seat and infotainment with Bluetooth connectivity.

Under the bonnet lives the 5.0L Coyote V8 which Tickford has fitted tickled up with their 400kw package. The engine is paired to the factory six speed manual transmission. The handling is improved thanks to coil overs and dampeners along with a Race Red top engine strut brace and two Steeda Ultralite G-Trac Braces. The brakes have been upgraded using Bendex slotted rotors and uprated ceramic pads.

The car is completely unmodified from the way it left Tickford, is one owner and has only travelled 3,141 kms. This is a fantastic investment grade modern muscle car and a rare chance to grab a piece of Aussie motoring history.
