This 1974 Holden Torana SLR sedan has been through a ground up, nut and bolt custom rebuild into a show quality custom street machine. The car started life as a factory SLR sedan fitted with an L32 code 253 V8 and M40 trimatic transmission. The car was purchased by the current owner in 2020 as an unfinished build and during his ownership the car was completed into what you see here today.
At some stage during the previous owner’s tenure, Proflo Performance got their hands on the car and tore it down to a bare shell for a complete custom rebuild. Proflo are known for build some of Australia’s toughest and highest quality custom cars and this build was no different. Proflo did all of the metal fabrication and body work including all new floors, trans tunnel, rear wheel tubs, custom fire wall, custom smoothed front rails and fitted the A9x style flares and body kit. The car was fully painted in one of the best factory colours, Barbados Green with the appropriate black outs. The lights were all coverted over to LED items and the car sits down low over a set of custom 19” three piece Simmons wheels.
Inside the car has no interior when the current owner purchased it so it was sent off to Currumbin Trimmers who did a full custom trim in the car. The seats, dash and door cards are covered using high quality leather hides imported from Scottland and the carpets are premium quality specially sourced items too. The dash features a custom carbon fibre panel with Haltech digital dash display mounted in front of the driver. The only switches on the dash are push buttons located on the Nexus R5 VCU control panel and they control everything on the car including, lights, fuel pump, water pump, launch control, etc. There is a SLR style steering wheel mounted to a chrome column and a B&M ratchet shifter on the floor.
Under the bonnet lives a tough built and blown 350ci Chevy V8 engine put together by the guys at Proflo. The engine build started with a Dart block and uses AFR heads, a Blower Shop 6/71 blower and an EFI converted Joe Blo hat. The engine is set up to run on either E85 or 98 octane with a custom aluminium fuel tank in the boot with three electric fuel pumps and flex fuel sensor. The engine is paired to a Hughes Built Powerglide transmission that is fully manualised with external cooler and was supplied by Proflo. Proflo also supplied the full custom sheet metal nine inch diff with Strange axles. The front suspension features tubular control arms while the rear is converted to a four link setup with Strange coil overs on all four corners. The brakes use all Wilwood items with discs on all four corners and booster and master cylinder hidden up under the dash. The steering is fully reconditioned rack and pinion. The cooling system features a big aluminium radiator with twin thermo fans. Exhaust gasses escape through four into one extractors into a custom twin exhaust with Hooker mufflers.
The car received its final assembly and was tuned by ASG Motorsport where it made 600hp at wheels on 98 octane, and 725hp at the rear wheels on E85. Freshly completed, the car has never been shown anywhere and has only travelled about 20 kms. The car has been fitted with a QLD modification plate.
