This is a genuine 81837 GTS 350 HG Monaro that has been tastefully modified and upgraded. Starting life in August of 1970 the Monaro was built in GMH’s Pagewood plant in Sydney. It left the factory as a top of the tree GTS 350 model in code 12204 Indy Orange paint work with code 10X black vinyl trim. The car was purchase by the current owner in 2013, it was complete with a straight and rust free body with a non-matching engine in place. The owner decided to give the car a freshen up along with some upgrades along the way.

In 2016, the car was sent to Resident Restorations who were tasked with repainting the car in its original Indy Orange colour with GTS Black outs. The body on the car was about as good as they come and didn’t need any significant repairs. The paint work has been completed to a high standard and the chrome and stainless trims were either replaced or refinished at the same time. The look on the outside is given a mild custom feel thanks to a set of polished Weld Prostar 15” wheels.

Inside, the car has been fully refinished back to a factory look in its original code 10X black vinyl by Lea McCarroll in 2016. The only exception to this is a pair of gauges neatly mounted under the dash to keep an eye on engine vital signs. The battery has been relocated to the boot which is neatly carpeted.

Pop the bonnet and you will find a very well-presented engine bay housing the CF Performance built 350ci Chevy V8. The inner guards and firewall have all been treated to glossy Indy Orange paintwork with chrome splashes to the hinges, brake booster and master cylinder. The wiring is all hidden wherever possible and things are generally neat and tidy. The engine was built in 2016 and features reworked steel heads and a hydraulic roller cam with a 12:1 compression ration built to run on 98 pump fuel with octane booster. An upgraded radiator with twin thermos fans keeps temps in check. The engine is paired to a T56 Tremec 6 speed manual transmission supplied by Mal Wood in 2016. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a Ford 9” diff with a 4.3:1 Detroit locker centre. Underneath the car there is a Castlemaine Rod Shop Front end with coil over suspension and rack and pinion steering. The power brakes have been upgraded to include Wilwood discs up front. These upgrades all provide a huge improvement on driveability over a stock setup.

A rare chance to pick up a tastefully upgraded and modified, genuine GTS 350 Monaro restored in a desirable colour combination.
