This 1970 Ford XW Falcon has been transformed into an XW GT Replica with some tasteful upgrades. The car was purchased by the current owner about six years ago from a private seller on the south side of Brisbane. At the time, the car had already been transformed into a GT Replica, the body was good but the mechanicals weren’t in as great shape, so the current owner bought it with a mission to make the car run as good as it looked.

The paint and body on the car was done by the previous owner about 15 years ago now. The car has been professionally repainted in metallic Silver with the typical GT black outs applied. Up front there is a GT Grille, GT bonnet with bonnet pins, spot lights and front spoiler. An orange GT stripe runs down the side of the car and there is a rear spoiler with correct style black outs between the tail lights. The look is completed externally with a period set of 15” Simmons B45 Wheels including a matching spare.

Inside the car has been retrimmed to a factory GT look in black vinyl. The seats have been retrimmed with some extra padding for comfort. There is a GT steering wheel and dash with all gauges restored by Able Instruments. Keeping things comfortable inside is an under dash air conditioning system. A Kenwood stereo with front and rear speakers supplies tunes while cruising.

Under the bonnet lives a 347ci Windsor stroker built by Jack Bros Engineering in 2021. The engine build started with a full roller Windsor, stroked to 347ci with Scat rotating gear, Iskenderian lifters, Comp Cam, Race rockers and AFR heads. Spark is provided by an MSD ignition system with programable ignition box. The exhaust was upgraded and the car tuned by ASG Performance showing it was good for approximately 500hp at the fly wheel. Keeping the package cool is an electric water pump and electric thermo fans with Davis Craig controllers and digital display.

The engine is paired to a C4 automatic transmission which was rebuilt just prior to the current ownership. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a nine inch diff with 3.5 diff gears. The front suspension has been upgraded with a heavy duty sway bar and Monroe gas shocks while the rear has a sway bar and pump up Monroe shocks. Steering has been upgraded to power assisted using an electric power steering pump. The brakes use GT style Kelsey Hayes discs and calipers up front with drums in the rear and an electric pump providing vacuum assist.

These early Falcon GT Replicas are always extremely popular and this one is finished in one of the most popular colour combinations with a heap of upgrades throughout.
