This 1970 Ford XW Falcon has been through a meticulous ground up, nut and bolt, rotisserie restoration into one of the best XW GT replicas in the world. The car started life as a September, 1970 built, XW Fairmont finished in (code F289) Surfer Orange with (code B) Black interior and running a (code Y) 302ci V8 engine with (code R) three-speed cruise-o-matic transmission.
The car underwent an extensive restoration to be possibly the highest detailed XW GT Replicas in existence. The car was built by Garry Coleman in Sydney who is well known and respected in GT circles. The body of the car has been completely stripped and refinished in its original colour, Surfer Orange, a colour made famous by the Surferoo utes and one of the best colours on an XW period. The body features all of the correct GT items including bonnet, grille, spoiler, bonnet pins, mirrors, and black outs. The car also features the best option you could have on one of these cars, a factory Golde wind back sunroof. The fit and finish on the car would exceed anything that ever left the factory in 1970.
Inside is a similar story, the car is completely refinished back to GT specs in black. Again, everything has been refurbished or replaced back to a standard higher than it would have been from the factory. Where ever possible period genuine parts were used with the only know reproduction items being the GT steering wheel and the dash.
Under the bonnet is immaculate in presentation and features all of the factory style paint dabs and marking you would expect on a concours level restoration. Front and centre is a period correct 351ci Cleveland that makes 475hp. The engine features 4V heads, solid cam shaft and roller rockers. The engine is paired to a four speed top loader manual transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through a 9 inch differential. Every item in the suspension and brakes was refurbished or replaced during the build. Again, the whole underside of the car is detailed in a concours style with correct colours, paint dabs and factory style marking back to a day one finish.
Since completion in 2019, the car has travelled approximately 2,100 miles. This would have to be one of the best XW GT Replicas on the planet. The car has been built to the highest of standards and in one of the most desirable colour combinations with the most sought-after option you can get, a hole in the roof. This one will be popular, ensure you register and bid if you want the opportunity to take it home.
