This 1969 Holden HT Brougham is a top of the line Aussie luxury car that has been rebuilt with a performance focus. The car started life in the Holden Paigewood plant in Sydney and was sold new on the 2nd of September 1969 in Camperdown, NSW. The current owner has had it for at least six years continuing to improve on it during his ownership.

The body of the car was stripped back to bare metal and completely resprayed in 2014. The body was very good with no significant rust repairs to be made. The owner wanted a colour that would stand out so it was decided to repaint the car in Fantail Orange. The custom external look is completed with a set of 17” Streeter Show wheels wrapped in Michelin tyres.

The interior of the car has all been completely retrimmed in black vinyl with cloth inserts in the seats. The floor carpets were all replaced. Up front there is a GTS Monaro style steering wheel and a B&M automatic quick shifter mounted on the floor. There is Autometer temp gauge neatly mounted under the dash on the right hand side of the wheel. Keeping cabin temps in check is an under dash air conditioning system. For tunes while cruising there is a Pioneer stereo system.

Pop the bonnet and you will find the factory matching numbers 308ci V8 engine that has been fully built and upgraded. The block is the original early HP 308 and uses the stock stroke and original crank.  It has been upgraded to A91rod and bolt mains and rods got an ARP bolt upgrade with flat top 1.4:1 comp pistons, John Marshal Cam 229/229 108Isa hyd flat, 1.7 ratio LS rockers, original heads and Edelbrock manifold was ported with larger valves and a set of LS conical PAC springs. Rick at LHT engines did all the head and manifold work with Carter Race Engines overseeing the rebuild. On their engine dyno, the setup made 396 hp.

The engine is paired to the factory Powerglide automatic transmission. The trans was stripped with a clutch upgrade, 200 psi spring upgrade and new SDE 3500 stall converter. Power is fed to the rear wheels through an LSD diff with 3.36 ratio centre. The exhaust has been upgraded with tuned four into one extractors and custom twin system with x pipe. The suspension was recently fitted with new Koni shocks and rear sway bar. The power steering unit was reconditioned with all new drag link. The brakes have been upgraded with new PBR callipers and slotted discs while the rear is drums with new shoes and wheel cylinders.

These Broughams were top of the line Luxury Aussie cruisers back in their day and this one has been restored with some awesome upgrades and a performance focus. The sale of the car includes the original books and receipt file. Be sure to register and bid if you want to see this one parked in your garage.
