1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Big Block SS

This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle big block coupe is one bad ass American muscle car. These Chevelle’s are a fantastic alternative to a more mainstream Camaro or Mustang. We are told that this car was purchased from a doctor in Nevada in the US who had a large collection of cars at the time. He restored the car and upgraded it during his ownership. The car was then purchased by a gent on the Gold Coast who imported it to Australia in 2008 before being purchased by the current owner who has had the car for almost 13 years.

The car was restored in the late 90’s so it’s safe to say its an older restoration but has been kept in good condition, well looked after and has seen little use over the last few years. If you know these cars well there is no codes to identify a true big block SS car rather a series of clues to disprove one that isn’t. Looking at many of these items on the car, it does seem to be correct in checking the boxes and has lots of the correct SS gear but for accuracy’s sake please know it can’t be 100% confirmed that it left the factory this way.

Under the bonnet is a big block Chevy engine that has been bored out to 468ci and built by Sunfire Research in Nevada. A folder is available with the car that has the complete specification of the engine build. The car on the dyno at Mad Race Engines made a respectable 376.9 hp at the rear treads. The engine is paired to a 4 speed manual transmission just like any real muscle car should be! Under the back is a Chevy 12 bolt diff feeding power to the rear wheels. The car has custom fabricated and ceramic coated extractors as well as a 3” exhaust by Scott’s Rods at Yamanto. The car sounds amazing when you hit the key, the big block rumble combined with a big cam and big exhaust make for a fantastic combination.
