This 1969 Chevy Camaro coupe is an iconic American muscle car that has been neatly restored and tastefully upgraded. The car was purchased by the current owner from Ohio in the USA back in 2018. The car had been fully restored prior to his purchase and he has continued to enjoy and maintain it during his ownership including rebuilding the engine, transmission and differential.

Starting with the body, the car has been professionally repainted in its original colour of code 57, Fathom Green. Although not an original SS, the car was fitted with SS badging and stripes as well as front and rear spoilers and small cowl hood for a tougher look. The chrome was all either refinished or replaced during the resto. The car sits on a set of GM Rallye style wheels measuring 17 inches up front and 18 inches in the rear.

Inside the car has been neatly refinished back to a factory look in black vinyl. It features front bucket seats and deluxe door panels with a comfort grip three-spoke steering wheel front and center. The car has a factory tacho and console gauges as well as a pair or aftermarket gauges neatly fitted under the dash. The centre console splits the front seats and houses the Hurst manual shifter. Inside the boot is neatly coated in a factory style speckle finish with factory style stickers fitted to the underside of the boot lid.

Under the bonnet lives a 454ci big block Chevy V8 engine that was fully rebuilt in 2022. The engine build started with a ’73 block which was bored .030” over and was fitted with Speedpro Dome Hyperutectic pistons, Scat I-beam rods, reco’d 781 heads with new valves, Crow Cams 2605 Hydraulic cam, Crow Cams push rods, Melling oil pump, Yella Terra 1.7 Rockers and has a 9.8:1 compression ratio. Topping the engine is a Holley high rise aluminium intake manifold and Holley 750cfm carb. The factory fuel system has been overhauled with a new fuel tank and the cooling system has been upgraded to keep everything cool.

The engine is paired to an M22 ‘Rock Crusher’ four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt in 2022 by Automedics in Gosford, NSW. The trans is upgraded with a Hurst competition shifter and power is fed to the rear wheels through a GM 10 bolt diff which has been upgraded with an LSD centre. The rear suspension is rebuilt factory gear with the front upgraded with two inch drop spindles. The brakes are power assisted discs up front and drums in the rear with new brake booster and master cylinder.

This is a super cool example of an iconic American muscle car. The car is very well presented and has been fitted with some awesome upgrades to make it better than it was from the factory. A ’69 Camaro is cool in anyone’s books but with a built big block under the bonnet and a four-speed manual transmission, this one is way more fun than most.
