This 1969 Chevy Camaro has been through a full ground up build into a pro-touring style custom. The car was purchased by the current owner while he was living in California back in 2015. It was built by a gent in Nebraska who owned a body shop. The car had just been completed and had only been shown once before he purchased it. He brought the car back with him when he returned home to Australia in 2017.

Starting with the body, the car was stripped right back to a bare shell and then back to bare metal. We are told that there is over 1000 hours in the body work to get the car straight and perform a few subtle modifications. The side markers and badges were shaved off the sides of the car, the seams removed from under the rear window and the trim mouldings and gutters removed from around the side windows. Once it was spot on, the entire car was painted in gloss black. There is a reverse cowl hood, SS badging and a front and rear spoiler. The chrome bumpers, door handles, mirrors and side grills have all been refinished or replaced. A satin black SS Hockey stick stripe provides a nice subtle detail down the side. The car sits slammed down low over a set of staggered Budnik wheels with black centres measuring 19” up front and 20” in the rear.

Inside the has been completely refinished in a pro touring style thanks to TMI Products. The front bucket seats, rear seats, door cars and rear qtr panels are all TMI Classic Sport XR items. The dash has been restored with New Vintage USA 3 in 1 gauges. There is a custom tilt column holding a black Budnik steering wheel. Everything is new inside from the carpets to headliner. Things are kept comfortable inside thanks to a ‘Vintage Air’ air conditioning system and tunes are provided by a Pioneer aftermarket stereo system. The boot has been protected with a factory style speckle coat with the battery relocated from the engine bay.

Under the bonnet lives a 540ci Chevy big block V8 built by Shafiroff Race Engines in 2014. The engine is their 540 Ultimate Street package and features a Dart big “M” 9.8″ block with splayed 4 bolt main caps, Scat 4340 4.250″ Stroke Steel Crank, Scat 4340 H-Beam Rods, Clevite Main & Rod Bearings, SRP 10.5-1 forged aluminum pistons with coated skirts, plasma moly ring set, Comp Cams custom “Street Roller” Camshaft, Comp Cams solid roller lifters, Rollmaster billet timing set, Dart Pro 1 325 Aluminum heads, 1.550″ roller springs with steel retainers, ARP high performance head bolts, Comp Cams 1.7 Ultra Pro Magnum roller rockers, Chromemoly pushrods, FelPro HP head gaskets, BMP Merlin “X” Dominator aluminum Intake, Moroso Street/Strip Oil Pan w/windage tray, Moroso Race prepped oil pump, Hi-Performance harmonic balancer and a 950 cfm Quick Fuel Carburettor. The engine came completely assembled, internally balanced and individually dyno tested and tuned where it made 726.6hp and 691 lbft of torque. Exhaust gasses escape through a set of four into one headers into a custom stainless steel dual system with x-pipe and Borla mufflers. Cooling has been upgraded with a large custom radiator which is painted gloss black with twin thermo fans. The engine bay is highly detailed with gloss painted inner guards, billet hood hinges, a serpentine belt pulley kit and gloss chevy orange painted engine block, heads, intake, air cleaner and rocker covers.

The engine is paired to a Tremec TKO600 five speed manual transmission for that raw analogue driving experience. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a nine inch diff with 31 spline axles. The suspension has been completely upgraded with Heidts Pro G front and rear sections. The front end is a full Heidts Pro G subframe with tubular control arms, rack and pinion power steering and adjustable coil overs. The rear is a Heidts Pro G four link conversion with panhard bar and adjustable coil overs. The brakes have also been upgraded to a hydroboost setup with Wilwood dual master cylinder and four wheel Wilwood disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors. The whole underside of the car has been painted gloss black to match the top of the car and finished with a great level of detail.

This would have to be one of the most bad ass pro-touring style 69 Camaros in the country. The car is finished in triple black, has a built big block under the hood and a heap of other upgrades for performance, handling, comfort and reliability. They don’t come much cooler than this one and the car is running at NO RESERVE so will sell to the highest bidder at the close of the auction. If you want one of Australia’s raddest first gen Camaro’s, you better register, start bidding and clear some space in the garage.
