This 1969 Holden HK Brougham has been through a full restoration into a neat Aussie luxury classic cruiser. The Brougham was essentially the precursor to the Statesman, with an all-new longer body and a wider platform, it was the top of the line luxury offering from Holden at the time. With the 307ci V8 and Powerglide transmission as standard, the Brougham also featured power front disc brakes, power steering, Brocade upholstery, heater/demisters and carpeting included in the list price of $3,855. This example is only two owners from new and we are told is a genuine 35,000 mile car. The car has been fully restored inside and out using NOS parts where ever possible.
Externally, the car is factory in appearance but has been professionally repainted inside and out in its original colour of Silver Mink. The paint job isn’t an unlimited budget show quality job but is very nice for a street car and all of the chrome and brightwork has been replaced or refinished. The vinyl top sits down nice and flat and is in good condition. The car sits on a set of original style wheels and hubcaps with double white wall tyres.
Inside, the trim has been fully restored to a factory presentation using the unique brocade pattern in its original colour of Blonde Ivory. The factory style steering wheel remains in place with automatic shifter mounted to the column. The carpets on the floor and kick panels have all been replaced as has the head liner up top. The venetian blind mounted in the rear window is a cool period accessory.
Lift the bonnet and you will find a neatly presented engine bay with the matching numbers 307ci V8 parked in the middle. The engine is paired to the factory two speed Powerglide automatic transmission. Power is fed to the rear wheels through the factory Banjo V8 LSD. The is fitted with factory power steering and power boosted brakes with discs up front and drums in the rear. Both the engine bay and undercarriage are finished and detailed to an extremely high factory standard.
This is a cool example of a fully restored and matching numbers, Aussie luxury classic cruiser. The sale comes complete with the original books and factory sales brochure. Be sure to register and bid if you want to park this one in your garage.
