The 1968 Dodge Charger is a timeless and iconic muscle car. This example has been extensively modified over a four year period into a cool restomod. The Charger left the factory as a 383ci Big block V8 with 3 speed automatic in Dark turquoise metallic with black trim. When the car arrived into Australia it was imported into W.A and the owner decided he wanted to build something a little bit different. He wanted modern performance and reliability in an old school package but wanted to keep it all Mopar so decided to go with the infamous V10 Viper power unit.

After much research in the conversion, it was decided to purchase an engine and transmission from a 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10, the Viper powered pick up truck. Along with the infamous, 505hp V10 came the matching four speed automatic transmission, loom and ECU. Shoe horning a V10 into a 1968 Dodge Charger is no easy feat and it did require a reasonable amount of custom fabrication however starting with parts designed to work together definitely helped the process. The car features power steering and four wheel disc brakes.

The body of the car was fully repainted in a bright metallic green sourced from a Mazda 2. The owner wanted a custom looking colour but also to pick something off the shelf so it was easy to match should it require anything in the future. The Charger features the iconic hide away headlight front end that these cars are known for but like many around, the covers on this car are not currently functional and instead manually operated. The front and rear chrome bumpers were both replaced and the car is lowered over a set of 20” Boze 2 piece wheels.

The interior has been kept relatively factory being the seats retrimmed in the factory black pattern. There is a ratchet style shifter between the front seats for the auto. The dash is a custom carbon fibre item which houses a set of factory SRT-10 gauges to ensure reading are correct on what’s happening under the hood. There is also an aftermarket stereo system throughout with two 12” subwoofers neatly mounted into an install in the boot. Since completion the car has been on full registration in both Western Australia and in Queensland. These Chargers are always popular and this one has a cool restomod flavour.

Vehicles may have been sitting for some time and it is suggested that to protect your investment, you allow to change fuel, oil, fluids, filters and inspect brakes prior to use.
