This 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback has been through a complete rebuild into a resto mod style, Eleanor tribute. The car started life as a factory GT, S code big block fastback build at the Ford plant in San Jose, California. The car is said to have lived in California all of its life before being purchased by the current owner in Sacramento in 2013 where the car had been stored for 25 years. The car was a project at the time and has been taken back to bare metal and primed without any rust or damage.

Once the car was imported to Australia, the build began which took place over the next four years. Beginning with the body, the car was taken back to bare metal with the Eleanor style body kit fitted up. Great care was taken to ensure the kit wasn’t just bogged or fibre glassed onto the car but all removable, using hidden fixings. The rear quarter vent is fabricated out of steel rather than trying to bond glass onto the factory sheet metal which can often become problematic over time. All of the gaps were adjusted on the doors, bonnet, boot lid and bumpers. The car was then painted by Dave Johnson in 2016 using DuPont Pepper Grey with Metallic black stripes. While very well presented, there are some minor imperfections in the paintwork that you may not capture in the pictures and we would recommend seeing in person if you’re super fussy. The side pipes only imitation with the exhaust exiting out back to keep the car legal for road use. The look is completed with 17” Shelby American Racing wheels

The interior has all been replaced to factory specs in black vinyl with the dash being brought up to Shelby specs. The manual gear shifter features the infamous ‘Go baby go’ nitrous button. The car is a factory air con and power steer car and maintains both of those features today although with some new components. There is a Pioneer stereo system with amplifiers and neatly mounted speakers. The floors have all been insulated with Dynamat and the car was completely rewired from front to back.

Under the bonnet is a big block FE 390ci V8 engine that was rebuild by Sean Power in 2015 and has been upgrade with a Comp Cam, Edelbrock Performer manifold, and 6AL-2 MSD Ignition. It also features mild Head work by Fataz Competition Engines and is estimated to be making a healthy 450 hp at the fly. The engine is paired to a TKO Tremec 5 speed manual transmission with hydraulic clutch. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a 9 inch with 3.55 LSD centre. The front suspension has been upgraded with Lowered coils and new adjustable upper control arms while the rear has GT leaf springs with Caltracs and Koni shocks on all four corners. The brakes are factory big block GT Kelsey Hayes discs up front and drums in the rear. The fuel tank has been upgraded to now hold 80L with a LeMans style filler.

Since the car was completed in 2017 it has travelled very few kms. At the cars first and only show it was awarded 3rd place in the 2 door street machine class at the 2017 QLD Hot Rod show. These Mustang’s are bucket list cars for most enthusiasts and rarely become available in the market.
