This 1966 Ford Mustang fastback has been fully restored with some fantastic upgrades. The car began life in the San Jose factory in California where it left the factory on the 24th of August 1966 as a C code 289ci V8, 2+2 Fastback Mustang finished in Code 4, Silver Frost paint with code 25, red interior.  The car came to Australia some time in the early 90s before being put through a RHD conversion and full restoration from 1995 through to 1997. Upon the completion of the restoration the car won multiple trophies at various shows which, along with a large file of receipts and documentation, remains with the car today. The car was continued to be improved on with a built 302 Windsor V8 added in 2001 along with air conditioning and a big stereo system added around 2014. The current owner purchased the car from SEVEN82MOTORS back in October 2016 and has enjoyed it for the last 8 years, servicing and maintaining it as required.

Starting with the body, the car was professionally repainted in its original colour of Silver Frost Metallic using 2 pack. The fastback body shape is iconic and by far the most popular of the first generation cars. The chrome and bright work was all either refinished or replaced during the restoration. A lower black vinyl stripe was added as was a set of 17” chrome REV 100 series wheels and tyres which have only done approximately 5,000 kms.

The inside of the car was refinished in its factory red colour with pony seats up front. The first thing you will notice is that the car has been converted over to right hand drive. The front bucket seats are split by a factory optional console with T bar automatic shifter. A pair of Autometer gauges are neatly mounted to the steering column. The cabin is kept cool thanks to a factory style under dash air conditioning system. There is a large aftermarket stereo system featuring an Alpine Bluetooth head unit feeding six inch speakers in the front kick panels, four inch splits behind the front seats, an amplifier under the front seat and two 10” Rockford Fosgate Punch subs in a custom trimmed enclosure behind the rear seats.

Under the bonnet lives a fully balanced 302ci V8 engine. The engine has been built by Bob Halvorson and features an Edelbrock performer RPM power package top end which makes 367 HP and 340 ft lbs @ 6500 rpm. Exhaust gasses are expelled through Pacemaker headers and a stainless exhaust system. The cooling system has also been upgraded with a new alloy radiator and while the engine fan is retained with custom shroud there is also an electric thermos fan up front. The engine is paired to a C4 automatic transmission with 2800 stall converter. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a nine inch diff with LSD centre and 3.5 gears. The suspension has been lowered with Koni adjustables all round. The steering is power assisted and the brakes have been upgraded to power assisted four wheel discs.

These first-generation Mustang Fastbacks are always popular and this one came from the factory in one of the most desirable colour combinations, has been fully restored, converted to right hand drive and is loaded with extras! Be sure to register and bid if you want to see this Pony parked in your garage.
