This 1966, factory big block Corvette Stingray convertible is a rare collector quality muscle car that has been fully restored. The car was sold new through Capitol Motors Inc. in Hartford Connecticut for $6,122.25 in 1966. It is believed to have been imported into Australia in 1977 by Bob Mummerie Imports before being converted to Right Hand Drive (RHD).
Since arriving the car has been through a number of owners before the well-known Neil Fletch (Fletch’s Fotographics) purchased the car in 1995 from Peter Mellor in Brisbane. Previous owner had the car for a number of years before the current owner purchased the car from us about 18 months ago. The car has been part of a large collection with it only being used sparingly since and is regretfully being sold due to ill health.
The car has been through a full ground up restoration and is finished in its original colour of Nassau blue with blue vinyl interior. The car features both black vinyl removable hardtop and a white soft top. The Stingray is very well optioned featuring side mounted exhaust, aluminium knock off wheels and power windows.
Under the bonnet is the original 427ci, 425 hp big block Turbo-Jet V8. The engine is paired to a close ratio 4 speed manual M21 gearbox and power is fed to the rear wheels through a 3.36 ratio positraction differential. Driving a big block, manual transmission Corvette Roadster with side pipes is an old school muscle car feeling that needs to experienced.
These big block C2 Stingray’s are not only a bunch of fun to drive, but also fantastic investment grade muscle cars.
