1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

This 1957 Ford Thunderbird is a great little classic open-top American cruiser. 1957 was the last year and arguably the most desirable of the first-generation Thunderbirds or “Baby Birds” as they were later known. This is a tidy example with a lot of great options and upgrades.
The car is an older restoration which still presents very well. The ‘bird was repainted in a striking red colour and the chrome was also refinished during the restoration. The car has two convertible tops, a cream coloured “Port Hole” removable hard top and a tan coloured Mercedes Benz cloth style fold away soft top that tucks away behind the front seats. The car has a set of rear wheels spats painted to match the body; however, they are missing the chrome gravel guards and rubber seals they would need prior to being refitted. One of the coolest features of these T-Birds is the exhaust which exits out from holes in the rear bumper on both sides. The external aesthetic is completed with a set of optional wire wheels with white wall tyres all round.
The interior has been refinished and is neatly presented in a cream colour which contrasts well against the bold red paint. The car has been upgraded to include modern style Saginaw 605 power steering and has been fitted with aftermarket under dash air conditioning to keep things comfortable.
Under the bonnet is a very neatly presented optional 312ci V8 engine, the larger of two displacements available for 1957. The engine has been paired to a Tremec T5, 5-speed manual transmission. This 5-speed transforms the driving experience of the car and certainly helps to make the whole package feel sportier. The radiator has been upgraded to a large aluminium item to help keep everything cool on the hottest of days. Electric wipers have been fitted to the car to ensure they are reliable if you get caught in bad weather. Disc brakes have been fitted to the front end to ensure you can pull up in a hurry. All in all, this is a great little open top American sports car and an iconic classic to get out and enjoy.
