This 1957 Chevy Bel Air Sport coupe is an iconic American classic cruiser. The car was imported into Australia last year after undergoing a restoration in the US and is a desirable two-door pillarless sport coupe model fitted with some great upgrades in performance and drivability.
Starting with the body, the car has been professionally repainted in its original colour of Adobe Beige. At the same time, the chrome bumpers and stainless trim was all either refinished or replaced. The car retains all of its factory styling externally without any major modifications. The car has a cool lowered stance over a set of 18” Intro Billet wheels.
Inside the trim has also been refinished in a factory style in Copper and Tan. The carpets on the floors are all new and the seats and door trims have been replaced in vinyl with the correct Bel Air ‘cloud’ fabric inserts. With bench seats front and rear there is enough seating for six people so you can bring the whole family out cruising with you. Colour coded lap belts have been fitted for safety. The factory steering wheel remains in place on a tilt column with billet stalks.
Under the bonnet now lives an upgraded 350ci V8 crate engine that features an Edelbrock Performer intake and Edelbrock carb. Spark is provided by an MSD coil. Keeping things cool is a new polished aluminium radiator with electric fan mounted up front. Exhaust gasses escape through a set of stainless-steel block hugger headers into a dual exhaust. The engine is paired to a Turbo 700r, four-speed automatic transmission. The brakes have been upgraded to a power booster with dual master cylinder and proportioning valve feeding discs up front and drums in the rear. The steering system has been upgraded to a new power steering set up. The charging system has been upgraded from an old generator to a modern style alternator for better reliability.
These 1957 Chevy Bel Airs are one of the most iconic 50s American classic cars ever produced. This one is an extremely desirable factory V8 pillarless sport coupe and has been fully restored with some fantastic upgrades in both performance and drivability. Good examples of these cars can be hard to come across and this one if being offered at NO RESERVE and will sell to the highest bidder at the end of the auction.
