SOLD! 1957 CHEVROLET BEL AIR CONVERTIBLE
1957 Chevrolet Belair Convertible
The 1957 Chevrolet Belair is one of the most iconic and sort after classic cars ever made. This example being a top of the tree Convertible model makes this particular car even more appealing. The car underwent an extensive, rotisserie style restoration some time in the late 90s and would have been a top show quality example when it was first completed. You can see the evidence of the factory style markings and paint dabs still on the car along with a high level of detail to replicate factory overspray and correct seam sealer etc. Rather than remaining a trailer queen, the car has been regularly used and driven over the years since the restoration and does show some minor signs of age and use.
Staring with the body, the car has been completely repainted in its factory Larkspur blue colour which still presents extremely well and is one of the most desirable colours produced that year. The body is straight and true and the gaps are good with everything opening and closing as it should. The white power convertible top is in good condition with the top frame nicely restored and painted. The car has a super desirable factory style accessories including continental kit on the rear along with a set of wheel spats. The look is completed with a set of correct 57 Hubcaps and wide white wall radial tyres.
The interior was refinished during the restoration in its original two tone blue colour scheme. The gauges have been refurbished and look and work like new. The dash and tops of the doors are nicely painted and the convertible specific trim is correct for the car. The carpets are new and period style lap belts have been fitted for safety. Inside the trunk is all nicely painted body colour with the correct style rubber mat covering the floor. There is an extra spare wheel with white wall tyre in the boot in addition to the one contained in the continental kit.
Under the bonnet is the factory correct 283ci V8 with four barrel carb. The engine is paired to the original 2 speed power glide automatic transmission. The car is also a power pack car featuring the correct style “through generator” power steering and the original style treadle vac power assisted brakes. Under the bonnet is neat and tidy in its factory presentation with many original and date correct parts used in the resto. Underneath the car has rock solid floor pans coated in factory style red oxide paint with factory style body colour over spray. There is no stone guard or deadner under the car so you can see how nice everything really is. Delivery markings and paint dabs can be seen on the suspension components, tail shaft and differential. The chassis itself is nicely coating in black like factory and has all of the correct elements for a convertible including the factory X bracing, extra body mounts and under side reinforcement.
These cars are becoming extremely hard to find and have quickly appreciated in value. This is a rare opportunity to own a fantastic example of one of the most iconic classic cars of all time.
