This is a cool custom example of a 1954 Chevy 210 Coupe. The car was originally an old school Californian custom that was roof chopped back in the early days. The car was purchased and imported to Australia a few years back and went through a makeover into the custom you see here. The car has been nicknamed “Tiffany” after its satin ‘Tiffany & Co’ inspired paint finish.
When the car arrived in Australia it was stripped back, and workmanship of the roof chop was assessed. It was a reasonable job, and the proportions of the car were bang on, but the welds were old and not of the highest standard. To rectify this, the roof was fully re-welded to make sure it looked good for years to come. The car was then repainted in its satin ‘Tiffany Blue’ using 2-pac paint. The car has real glass all round. The door handles have been shaved for a sleek profile. The chrome bumpers have been replaced along with some extra teeth in the grille for a more custom look.
Under the bonnet is the original 235ci 6 cylinder engine paired to a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The front end is stock, just lowered a little and the rear end is notched, and air bagged with manual valves to get the back down to the ground. The car retains its factory drum brakes all round. To finish the look there is a set of Laker pipes down the side and the car sits on a set of black steel wheels with wide white wall tyres.
Inside the trim has been redone with white vinyl in a period custom tuck and roll style. Both bench seats as well as the door trims, kick panels and headliner have all received the treatment. The dash remains the original grey colour to keep the glare down but has a full set of VDO gauges in the original cluster. Even with the big roof chop, there is plenty of room in the cabin even for guys pushing up over 6 feet. This is the rare chance to own a cool ‘50’s style period custom that is ready to jump in and cruise.
