This 1951 Ford Crown Victoria has been neatly restored and is a rare classic cruiser. The car was purchased by current owner out of Columbia, Tennessee in 2019. The car looked just the way it is now having been restored by the previous owner over many years. He was an elder gent who worked on the car with his son who was a drag racer, but by the time the car was completed, he was too old to be able to drive it. It is believed that they owner the car for at least 10 years.
The car was then purchased and imported to Australia by the current owner who is a collector and enthusiast. The body of the car has been fully repainted in gloss black. The chrome work on the outside of the car has been refinished or replaced during the restoration including the iconic twin spinner grille. Completing the look on the outside is a set of original steel wheels and hubcaps wrapped in wide white wall radial tyres. The manual folding convertible top has been refurbished with a new tan coloured canvas in a Mercedes Benz style cloth.
The interior of the car has also been completely refinished during the restoration. The tan coloured trim is a timeless combination and offers a nice contrast against the black paintwork and external chrome. The carpets are all new and the seat and door trims are covered in a combination of vinyl and cloth insert. There is a trio of gauges mounted under the dash and seat belts have been added for safety.
Under the bonnet lives a 1951 Mercury flathead that is bored out .125. It has an Iskenderian Max 1 camshaft with adjustable lifters and ISKY springs. The pistons are forged Ross Racing pistons with hasting rings. The crankshaft is a cast steel four-inch stroke Mercury crank. It features all stainless valves and hardened seats. Some go fast goodies include Offenhauser heads and intake that have been polished with the heads painted between fins to match the interior. The MSD distributor is electronic and is mounted in a polished aluminium timing cover. The water pumps are chrome plated with new upgraded rebuild kits. Exhaust gasses are expelled through Fenton cast iron headers into twin Smitty mufflers. The engine is paired to a Lincoln sourced, three speed manual transmission with overdrive. Power is fed to the rear wheels through the factory differential. The braking system recently received an overhaul including new master and slave cylinders.
This is a fully restored example of a rare American classic convertible cruiser. These cars don’t come on the market very often so ensure you register and bid if you want to see this car parked in your garage.
