This 1932 Ford Roadster has been through a full ground up nut and bolt build into a traditional style ‘high boy’ hot rod. Completed in 2016, the rod is built in a traditional style using a new Brookville steel body and well finished in a desirable colour combination.

The body of the rod is a brand new Brookville all steel 32 Roadster body out of the USA. The body has a functioning cowl vent with exposed door hinges, deleted exterior handles, deleted running boards and factory guards switched for neat tyre hugging cycle guards. Keeping with the old school theme there is no bonnet or sides with a 32 grille mounted up front. The entire body and chassis have been professionally painted in gloss black for a period and timeless look. The headlights are chrome guide style lights with integrated indicators. The external fuel tank has been removed from the rear and replaced with a fuel cell in the boot and custom flush mount filler up top. The windscreen is hinged 2” chopped style with a lift off one piece convertible top covered in dark brown Mercedes Benz style cloth with hard perspex, chrome framed gangster rear window. To complete the look on the outside there is a set of 15” black steel wheels with ’46 Ford hub caps and traditional bias-ply Firestone tyres.

The car was originally built by a Motor Trimmer so naturally the interior is extremely well finished. The bench seat and door trims are custom made in a dark brown leather. There are colour coded seat belts added for safety. A nice luxury touch is the leather applied to the lower dash where is would normally be painted body colour. The dash houses a full set of Stewart Warner gauges and there is a chrome steering column holding a reproduction 40 Ford steering wheel. The floors feature German square weave carpets with Lokar style automatic shifter and hand brake sticking up from the floor. The boot has been neatly trimmed to match.

The exposed engine bay shows off a neatly detailed 350ci Chevy Vortec V8 engine topped with triple Stromberg carburettors. The polished finned rocker covers are a neat touch with dark brown painted inserts to match the trim colour.  Spark is provided by an MSD distributor and leads and the radiator is fitted with a thermo fan to keep things cool. The engine is paired to a Turbo 700r four speed automatic transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through a Ford nine-inch diff.

The chassis of the rod utilises reproduction 32 Ford rails paired with genuine 1931 Model A front and rear crossmembers and a 1934 centre brace. The chassis features smoothed rail horns and deleted spreader bars front and rear. The suspension is traditional in its configuration using a ladder bar and buggy spring setup in the rear while the front is an I-beam with transverse leaf spring and hairpins. Brakes are power assisted with discs up front and drums in the rear. Steering is proved by a Chevy Vega style steering box.

The build of the rod was completed in July of 2016 and the car has only travelled approximately 1,700 miles during that time. The rod has been plated in QLD as LH10 for full registration.
