1932 Ford Roadster Hot Rod

This timeless hot rod was built using a real steel, Aussie delivered 1932 Ford Roadster. The car underwent a six year, ground up nut and bolt build, finally being completed in 2011. The result is a timeless, all steel hot rod finished to an incredibly high standard.

Starting with the chassis, the original 32 chassis was boxed with a tubular X member and Model A Front cross member welded in place. The rear end has a triangulated four link with coil overs and the chassis was notched to allow suspension travel at the car’s new ride height. The front received a lowered I-beam with Rod Tech four bar, transverse leaf spring and polished shocks. The steering box from a HQ was utilized along with a Falcon master cylinder to feed the Falcon disc brakes with Commodore callipers up front and drums in the rear. The lines for the brake and fuel system are all braided and stainless items. The original ’32 fuel tank sits under the rear upgraded with an electric fuel pump.

Rather than the run of the mill flat head or small block Chevy, under the bonnet of this beast is a 331ci Hemi V8. The infamous Hemi has always been a popular choice among hot rodders after proving themselves on the race tracks through the 50’s and 60’s. The 331ci Firepower Hemi in this 32 underwent a rebuild by Fataz Performance in Brisbane prior to being fitted into the rod. A polished Weiland intake, dual Edelbrock 500 Carburettors, a finned air cleaner, alloy water pump and flamed rocker covers, add some nice detail to the engine bay which is shown off thanks to the open bonnet sides. A full custom stainless steel exhaust runs from the headers all the way to the rear end. Paired to the engine is a Turbo 350 automatic transmission with a 2000rpm stall converter which feeds the power to a ford 9” diff running 3.5:1 gears.

The body of the car is original 1932 steel including the fenders and firewall although there was a one inch recess made to clear the new engine. The windscreen posts have been chopped two inches and bear claw latches installed in the original doors. The entire car inside, outside and underneath has been coated in Milano Red two pack. The undercarriage is detailed with anything that isn’t painted being polished, chrome or stainless. The interior has been completely redone in red leather and features a traditional tuck and roll look over a split bench seat. Likewise, the door cards, kick panels and inside the boot have also been given the same treatment. The convertible top is covered in black Mercedes Benz style cloth. The dashboard is nicely painted and features Classic gauges and the steering column is a chrome item with Torana internals and a Grant steering wheel.

This is a rare opportunity to own a real deal 1932 Ford Roadster that has been completely rebuilt into a unique but timeless hot rod. The car has won a number of awards since its completion and is universally appreciated and admired.
