This 1988 HSV VL Walkinshaw Commodore is a low milage example of one of the most iconic Aussie cars ever built. This particular car is one of the last of the production run being build number 739 and part of the additional run of 250 cars was later added to the original 500 making a total of 750 built. This car was purchased by the current owner in 2020 from a collector in Sydney and has been well kept ever since.
Externally the car is in a factory style presentation and shines brightly in its signature Panorama Silver hue. The polarising Tom Walkinshaw designed body kit that made these cars so famous is all in place. As with the nature of the extremely low body kits the front splitter does have some scrapes on the underside from being driven around. Completing the look on the outside is the factory style 16” Walkinshaw specific wheels.
The interior is again all in factory presentation including the original style stereo head unit. The trim is in great shape all round and well presented in general. Creature comforts include power windows, power steering and factory air conditioning.
Under the bonnet is the original matching numbers 5.0L V8 engine which featured factory fuel injection for the first time on a Holden V8. The engine featured a unique dual throttle body intake with hood scoop fed induction. The engine is paired to a five speed manual transmission. The odometer on the car is displaying 87,902 kms.
These early HSV’s are extremely popular with collectors and great investment grade Aussie muscle cars.
