This 1971 Ford XY Falcon has been through a ground up, nut and bolt concours style restoration into an XY GT HO Phase III replica.
The build of this car started with one of the cleanest, 10th month 1971, XY Falcons you will ever find. The car retains all of it’s original panels, apart from the front rad support, which was replaced with a K code panel. The car was taken right back to bare metal with only three tiny rust spots needing to be cut out and replaced with new steel. Once the body was right, it was professionally painted in Onyx Black using high quality DeBeer Refinish paint. The car has all of the iconic GT styling with black outs, driving lights, grille, bonnet shaker, hood pins, front and rear spoilers and contrasting Gold GT side stipe. Every piece of chrome or stainless trim on the car has been refinished or replaced. The car sits on correct 15” flat lip Bathurst Globe wheels with red striped tyres. Included in the sale is a set of GT-HO, 5 slot rims, caps, trims and nuts on brand new red striped tyres.
Open the door and you will find a completely refinished factory style trim in white. There is a correct style GT dash, console and an original restored rim blow steering wheel. Everything from the carpets top the headliner has been refinished or replaced. The new white arm rest are still covered in their plastic for the new owner to unwrap. The rubbers are all new and the catches and bolts have all been zinc coated like they were from factory. Inside the boot you will find a 36 gallon fuel tank with correct spare wheel tie down.
Under the bonnet is a rebuilt and fully balanced, genuine XA GT Falcon 351ci Cleveland V8. The engine features closed chamber 4V heads, Crane cam, Phase 3 solid lifter camshaft, Holley 780cfm vacuum secondary carby, 4V intake, HM Phase 3 headers, 55 amp Autolite Phase 3 alternator, Phase 3 Rev limiter, Phase 3 vacuum tank and electronic Pantronics III ignition modified to suit the genuine Autolite dual diaphragm distributor. The engine is topped with a metal shaker and produces a solid 330hp at 5,800 rpm and 343 ft/lb of torque. The engine is paired to a four-speed top loader manual transmission. Power is fed through a genuine GT 3.5″ tail shaft into a 31 spline, Detroit locker 9″ diff.
The suspension has been completed rebuilt using brand new lowered king springs and rear lowered king leaf springs with extra heavy duty big bore shocks. Keeping it level are Whiteline front and rear stabiliser bars. Stopping power is provided by a PBR booster, PBR master cylinder, Phase 3 proportioning valve, PBR Front discs and GT finned rear brake drums. The whole engine bay and underside of the car is highly detailed back to factory concours level with original style paint dabs and delivery markings used throughout the build.
