This 1964 EH Holden sedan has been through an extensive rebuild into the custom car you see here today. The build began in 2009 and took three and a half years to complete.
The body was placed on a rotisserie and had the required repairs performed with only subtle modifications to smooth things out including removed side strips, colour coded bumpers, trans tunnel enlargement, smoothed firewall and custom fuel filler. The entire body was then coated in a custom De Beer 2-pac paint called “Liberty Blue”. The bumpers front and rear were colour coded for a more modern look. The car sits down low over a set of Schott billet wheels measuring 17×7” up front and 18×9” in in the rear.
Open the door and you will be greeted by a full custom interior in a contrasting red leather by Datrim. The interior features modified Subaru Liberty front seats with retractable seatbelts. Front and centre is a Billet Specialties steering wheel along with a custom fabricated dash with Dakota digital gauges. There is billet switches and hardware used throughout. The cabin is kept cool by ‘Vintage Air’ air conditioning. Tunes while cruising are provided by a full stereo system comprising of an Alpine head unit and Sub, Pioneer amplifier and Focal speakers.
Under the bonnet is a fully built, 380ci Small block Chev V8. The engine is built using a Dart Block with 4 bolt mains, Clevite bearings, Scat crank, Scat 6 in H-beam rods, SRP flat-top pistons, Total seal rings, 10.5:1 static comp’, custom hated sump, Comp Cams hydraulic roller camshaft, Comp Cams 1.6:1 Roller rockers, RHS Pro Action 23 Deg alloy heads, Comp Cams rocker covers, Edelbrock Victor Jnr single-plane manifold and Quick Fuel Hot Rod series 690 cfm Carby. Spark is provided by an MSD Pro billet distributer and MSD 6AL spark amp with Blaster Coil. The exhaust features Tri-Y headers with twin 2.5inch stainless piping the X pipe and high flow mufflers. The result is a dyno’d 460hp and 420 ft lb or Torque at the rear wheels at 5,800 rpm.
The engine is paired to a Turbo 700 4 speed automatic transmission with 3000 RPM stall from The Converter Shop. Power is fed to the rear wheels by a narrowed Borg Warner diff with LSD centre and 3.89:1 diff gears. Handling has been improved thanks to a modified HR holden Front end with rear mounted manual steering rack and Ididit steering column. King springs with Koni adjustable shocks and Whiteline sway bar keep things nice in the front and leaf springs in the rear are assisted by Caltracs. Pulling things up are disc brakes all round with 330mm front and 315mm rear rotors along with GT Racing 4 piston billet callipers with braided lines and QFM pads.
This car has had an incredible amount of money spent on it during the build and a massive head turner. You don’t often see EH’s built to this standard and this one is as tough as they come with all of the bells and whistles.
