This 1985 Holden VK Commodore has been through a full ground up rotisserie rebuild into a high quality SS Group 3 Brock ‘White Pointer’ replica.
The Commodore was first registered on the 5th of June, 1985 being sold by Kensells Holden in Tamworth, NSW. The car lived in country NSW with the original owner right up until 2011 when it was purchased by the previous owner who began the rebuild into what you see today.
Being a country car, it was a good solid rust free starting point so the car was stripped back to a bare shell and place onto a rotisserie. The shell was stripped back to metal before being primed in PPG Vibrance Epoxy Urethane. The car then received all new seam sealer as the original was blasted out. Next the car was given two coats of PPG high fill primer before being wet rubbed smooth. The underside was covered in satin black with POR15 used for future rust prevention. The exterior of the car was repainted in PPG Alpine white clear over base with signature black outs. Once painted the car was fitted with Genuine HDT side skirts, a new three piece front bar with genuine HDT add on spoiler as per Group 3 standard. Finally, a full set of HDT SS Group 3 of decals were applied. All the paint and body work was performed by Re-Car Toronto. To complete the look, the car sits on a set of 19” HDT Aero style wheels.
The Interior of the car has been completely refinished to full Brock replica specifications. The floors had the original sound deadner removed and replaced with Car Builders acoustic liner before the carpets were replaced. The seats themselves are Scheel buckets up front and a Berlina rear seat all retrimmed along with the door trims in Herringbone and plush by WIX Trimming in Melbourne. The dashboard doctor in Melbourne supplied a new dash for the car with the standard Holden AM/FM cassette deck along with full instrumentation. For comfort inside the car has been fitted with air conditioning and power steering.
Under the bonnet lives a fully rebuilt 5.0L Holden V8 engine by Retorque engine Reconditioning Tamworth. The build started with a 304 block, bored, honed, decked, surface grind, resized rods, balanced, knife edged, to blueprint standards and full assemble bottom end using .030″, .010″ ACL flat top pistons and rings (Racer Series), ACL conrod, main and cam bearings. It also features B spec L34 heads with B spec valves, flowed 225 and ported, all new pushrods and Yella Terra roller rockers, Custom grind Camshaft dialled, assembled and dyno tuned. Other items include a new JP high flow oil pump, Rollmaster timing chain, new timing chain cover, new water pump, reconditioned 4 bbl manifold, ADP 650 cfm Carb, ollADP 650cfm Carbbig cap distributor, weighted and rebuilt to suit cam/engine.
The engine is paired to a new Tremec TKX 5 speed manual transmission by Mal Woods transmission. There is also a new lightened flywheel and heavy duty clutch. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a new tail shaft into a 10 bolt differential with 3.55 gears. The suspension has been rebuilt and upgraded with heavy duty springs and new shocks. Handling is improved with Brock spec sway bars and heavy duty Nolathane bushes throughout. The brakes received new calipers, rotors, lines, HD booster and new VT master cylinder. All of the brake and suspension work was carried out by Toronto Brake and Clutch.
The build was completed in late 2020 and the car has been well taken care of since completion. These 80s Aussie Muscle cars are always popular and this is a very well built replica that would easily be mistaken for the real deal.
